Registration for Spring CYO is officially open! Below are the sports we will be offering, along with their respective fees.
Girl's Varsity Lacrosse (grades 7 & 8) - $125
Girl's JV Lacrosse (grades 5 & 6) - $125
Boy's Varsity Lacrosse (grades 7 & 8) - $125
Boy's JV Lacrosse (grades 5 & 6) - $125
Boy's Varsity Baseball (grades 7 & 8) - $135
Boy's JV Baseball (grades 5 & 6) - $135
*Track & Field (grades 4 thru 8) - $100
*Please note, for Track & Field, the fee in the system will be set at $0 for now. The Region 17 Track & Field Commissioner has asked that we do this because they’re still working to make sure they can adhere to all the policies and protocols the AOP has put in place. Ultimately, they need to be certain they can provide the children with a safe environment for competing. Right now, they’ve told us there’s a 50-50 chance Track & Field will happen.
We were also informed that there will be no Pee Week Track (K – 3rd) season for Region 17. While we’re extremely disappointed, we understand the region’s decision. They simply felt that they would not be able to enforce all the necessary protocols with the younger children. We may still look to do something internally (SSJ only) for the kids later this Spring. We’ll keep you posted.
Also, as you’ll see, Biddy Ball is not on the list of approved programs. Because our gym continues to remain closed, we may not be able to move forward with Biddy Ball this year. However, we are looking at the possibility of doing something on the outdoor courts later in the Spring. More to come on this.
Just a reminder to please check out the below link for all the policies and protocols the AOP has put in place. These will be strictly enforced.
To register, simply head to our website (http://ssjcyopa.website.siplay.com/) and click on the REGISTRATION – SIGN UP NOW banner.
Registration will close on March 1st, so please get your child registered as soon as possible. The sooner we can evaluate the numbers for each sport, the better.
We are still looking for volunteers for the below sports. If interested, please reach out as soon as possible. Your clearances will need to be up to date. If they’re expired, or if you don’t have all your clearances, we’ll work with you to get what you need.
Girl’s Varsity Lacrosse – Head Coach & Assistants
Track & Field – Assistants
Lastly, we want to thank everyone for their continued support and patience. We’re thankful that many of our children will get the opportunity to compete for SSJ CYO this Spring…..but we also know things could change very quickly this season. We’re asking all our parents, coaches, and athletes to be understanding and flexible as we do all we can to give the SSJ CYO community a safe and fun season.
If you have questions, don’t hesitate to reach out. GO EXPLORERS!
SSJ CYO Families,
Figured we'd kick off the weekend with some good news (finally). It looks like the Spring CYO season is going to happen! Our region, Region 17, is still working through some details, but our kids should be back having fun in the maroon & gold in the coming weeks.
As of now, our plan is to offer the below sports for Spring.
Girl's Varsity Lacrosse (grades 7 & 8)
Girl's JV Lacrosse (grades 5 & 6)
Boy's Varsity Lacrosse (grades 7 & 8)
Boy's JV Lacrosse (grades 5 & 6)
Boy's Varsity Baseball (grades 7 & 8)
Boy's JV Baseball (grades 5 & 6)
Pee Wee Track (grades K thru 3)
Track & Field (grades 4 thru 8)
We'll look to open up registration towards the end of next week, so keep an eye out for another communication once registration is open.
The AOP has put some rules / protocols in place. Please access the link below so you have visibility to, and fully understand, the expectations for all Spring CYO participants (athletes, coaches, parents, etc...).
Lastly, we are in need of coaches for the below sports. Please consider volunteering. If you're interested, or you know someone who might be, reach out to me as soon as possible to get more details. The more folks we can get involved, the better it is for the kids.
Boy's Varsity Lacrosse - Head Coach & Assistants
Girl's Varsity Lacrosse - Head Coach & Assistants
Pee Wee Track and Track & Field - Assistants
As always, thanks for your continued support. Enjoy your weekend, and GO EXPLORERS!
SAVE THE DATE! The 1st Annual SSJ CYO Golf outing will be held on Monday, June 7th, at Whitford Country Club in Exton, PA. More details to follow in the coming weeks regarding registration, sponsorship opportunities, etc... With the past 3 CYO seasons, as well as our normal fundraising events, having been cancelled, this outing will allow us to not only bring our CYO community together in a safe way.....but it will help us raise some much needed funds for our program and kids. We're looking forward to a great event!
Also, keep an eye out next week for an update on Spring sports.
Thanks for your continued support of SSJ CYO!
SSJ CYO Families,
We hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas, and a very happy New Year. We wanted to send out a few updates, as well as let you know where we are with Spring sports.
As you saw in one of our previous communications, the AOP made the decision to cancel the Winter season on 12/1. We don't expect this decision to change. If anything does change, we will let you know asap. Also, just a reminder, the SSJ gym remains closed to CYO, as well as outside groups.
With regards to Spring sports, we're hoping there will be a season. We're awaiting word from the AOP, and should hear something in the coming weeks. For now, we'll move forward and make plans to have a season. Spring registration will most likely open later this month. With so much uncertainty, though, we may open registration with no fees. Once we know for sure that there will be a season, and we know what type of season we can expect, we can set the fees and collect them accordingly. Keep an eye out for more info on Spring registration in the next few weeks.
If there is a Spring season, we'll be looking for coaches for both Girls JV & Varsity Lacrosse, as well as Pee Wee Track. If you, or anyway you know, is interested in volunteering, please reach out to both Bob DelVescovo (email@example.com) & Brendan Genther (firstname.lastname@example.org).
As always, thanks for your continued support. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to reach out.
Have a great weekend!
We wanted to thank everyone who was able to support our first SSJ CYO Christmas Tree Fundraiser this year. We had close to 20 families purchase trees, and we raised almost $300. Those are great numbers for year one. Hopefully, we'll see even more support next year.
We also wanted to thank all those families who donated toys for our first annual SSJ CYO Toy Drive-By. We were overwhelmed by the support. Those that were able to give were unbelievably generous. We delivered the toys to WEGO yesterday. I think the below note from WEGO sums up what this will mean to the children of the Gaudenzia Kindred House.
THESE GIFTS ARE AMAZING AND SOOOOOOOOOOOOO MANY. Wow, you hit it out of the park! This is going to be their best xmas ever. I can tell you first hand the kids appreciate whatever you give them and these are NEW. Quick story…we outfitted some new moms and kids that came in April. One mom had 4 boys (a set of twins). I shopped for this family and when I went back to deliver something that was on back order, I saw the kids playing in the outfits I purchased. They don’t usually do this but the director called them over and told them that I gave them the clothes. Without encouragement from any adult, they shook my hand and thanked me (they were 7 years old). The 4 boys came to Gaudenzia with sores all over their body. The person that was supposed to take care of them, while their mom was in prison, sent them to Gaudenzia with no shoes, dirty and full of sores (they think flea bites). The two year old was in his mom’s arms and she said he won’t let her put him down. She also said “this time I am going to get well”. I hope to see her when we drop off the toys. Thanks again!!!!!! You are all ANGELS and we are blessed to have you in our jurisdiction. Stay safe and healthy. Fondly Kathy and everyone at Westtown East Goshen Regional Police Department.
Merry Christmas & Happy New Year to all of our SSJ CYO Families. Thank you all for your kindness and support this year......especially these last 9 months. We're looking forward to much better days for our kids, coaches, and everyone involved with SSJ CYO in 2021! Go Explorers!

SSJ CYO TOY DRIVE-BY
Community Service continues to be a big initiative for the SSJ CYO program. Unfortunately, service opportunities will be pretty limited this year due to the pandemic. We're doing our best to put some things together that will help remind our kids, and all of our families, just how important it is to serve others, and give to those in need.
On Saturday, December 12th, from 4pm - 6pm, we will be holding the first annual SSJ CYO Toy Drive-By. We will be set up by the CYO equipment shed in the lower parking lot at SSJ. For those that are able to, we're asking for donations of new, unwrapped toys (nothing too large). You can simply drive up, and hand your toy to one of our volunteers.....you won't even need to get out of your car. And we have confirmed that Santa, along with some of his elves, will be there to help collect the toys.
This year, we've partnered with WEGO (Westtown-East Goshen Regional Police Department) to help support the children of the Gaudenzia Kindred House located in West Chester. You can find more information about this organization at www.gaudenzia.org. There are 24 children that we're hoping to provide for. Gender and ages are below. Along with new, unwrapped toys, the children could also use new clothing and/or new books. The little girls would love princess dresses.
one 2 month old
two 3 month olds
one 5 month old
one 8 month old
four 4 year olds
one five year old
one 1 year old
one 18 month old
three 2 year olds
three 3 year olds
two 5 year olds
one 6 year old
one 8 year old
one 10 year old
These children have been dealt a tough hand. We have no doubt the SSJ CYO community will come together to show them that there are people out there that care. So come on out for some Christmas cheer on December 12th, say hello to Santa, and help give these children a Christmas they will always remember!
Thanks in advance for your support and generosity. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to reach out.
I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving! Just a quick reminder..... Our SSJ CYO Christmas Tree Fundraiser is underway! Mention SSJ CYO, and 15% of your purchase goes directly back to the program! More details are included on the attached.
Thanks in advance for your support!
It's almost time to start thinking about your Christmas Tree! We wanted to give you a heads up now, and let you know that we've partnered with B&B Christmas Trees (owner is a graduate of SSJ & an alum of SSJ CYO). Simply mention you're part of the SSJ CYO Family, and B&B will donate 15% of your purchase directly back to SSJ CYO. Additional details are included on the attached. Come out and get a beautiful tree and support your Explorers!
Hope everyone is doing well. One of these days, I'm going to be able to deliver some good news. Unfortunately, that won't be today. We were notified by the Archdiocese that CYO Winter sports (basketball) have been suspended, and that the current proposed return date is 1/4/21. Their announcement is included in the link below.
I know this announcement will bring about a lot of questions, some of which, I've already been asked. While I certainly can't say for sure what will happen come 1/4/21, I can tell you that just about all of our region's AD's are not very confident that a season will happen. We just don't see the reasons they've laid out for the suspension changing in the coming months. If the AOP does give us the green light come 1/4/21 (or earlier), we will assess the situation, work with Father Gerlach and Sister Regina, and communicate our plan to all of you asap. If the AOP cancels the season, but allows for any in-house (SSJ only) activities, we will still do all we can to provide the kids with some sort of basketball experience.
As with the cancellation of CYO Fall sports, we know families may now look for other options outside of CYO (ie. - Malvern Basketball League - http://www.malvernleague.com/). We completely understand this, as it may be the best option for the kids to be able to play basketball this season. At the end of the day, we just want to see the kids playing.
As an AD and coach, needless to say, this news really stings. We will continue to keep everyone updated with any news that comes from the AOP or our region. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to reach out. And as always, we can't thank you enough for your patience, understanding, and support these last few months. I look forward to the day our kids are back on the fields and courts, wearing the maroon and gold, representing SSJ CYO, and creating wonderful memories with their teammates.
The SSJ CYO Fall Store is now open! Despite Fall CYO being cancelled, there's still a great opportunity to support the kids and our program. Check out the below link / attachment for some great product that will show your love for Explorer Nation. There are a lot of great pieces for the entire family. The store will stay open until 10/14/20, and product will be shipped directly to you. A portion of every purchase will go directly to SSJ CYO. With last Spring's season being cancelled, along with this Fall's season, and with our limited opportunities for fundraising due to the pandemic, any support you can give us would be greatly appreciated.

Huge shout out to Assistant AD, Brendan Genther, for putting this together. It's something we plan to offer up at different times throughout the year.
Thanks again for all your support!
